How can we help?
Answers to the questions customers and cleaners ask most. Anything else, email support@cleanapp.london and we reply within one working day.
Booking a clean
How does CleanApp work?
Choose InstaClean for a cleaner as soon as possible, or schedule a clean up to 60 days ahead. Your request goes to ID-checked cleaners near you and the first to accept takes the job. You see their name, photo and rating, and the app shows how long until they arrive.
How much does a clean cost?
£25 an hour, with a one hour minimum. Your cleaner brings their own products and equipment. You see the full price before you request.
When am I charged?
When a cleaner accepts an InstaClean, we place a hold for the full price on your card. For a scheduled clean, the hold is placed 48 hours before it starts. You are charged only when the clean is complete.
If a clean finishes early, you pay only for the time your cleaner was there, counted from your start code and rounded up to the next 15 minutes, with a one hour minimum. The rest of the hold is released.
What is the start code?
Every booking has a four digit start code in the app. Give it to your cleaner at the door: they need it to start the clean, and the app only accepts it when they are at your address. It proves the right person has arrived, and the time you pay for starts from it.
Can I cancel?
Yes, in the app. A scheduled clean is free to cancel up to 24 hours before it starts, and an InstaClean within 5 minutes of it being confirmed. After that, a fee of 50% of the price applies, most of which goes to your cleaner, who had set the time aside for you.
What if I am not home when my cleaner arrives?
Your cleaner will message you in the app. If nobody lets them in 15 minutes after the start time, they can record a no-show from your address, and the late cancellation fee applies. If you will be out, add access notes to your address in the app, such as where to find a key.
Can I tip my cleaner?
Yes. After the clean, rate it in the app and add a tip, any time in the next 14 days. All of your tip goes to your cleaner, and CleanApp covers the card fee.
Are cleaners checked?
Every cleaner verifies their identity with Stripe before they can accept a job: a photo of their passport, driving licence or ID card and a selfie that has to match it. Customers rate every clean, and cleaners rate their customers too.
How do I contact my cleaner?
Message them in the app, from the moment the booking is confirmed until 24 hours after the clean. Phone numbers, email addresses and links cannot be sent in chat, so bookings and payments stay in the app, where both of you are protected.
Working with CleanApp
What do I need to start?
A smartphone, your own cleaning kit, a valid passport, driving licence or ID card, and a UK bank account. In the app you set up your profile, complete an ID check with Stripe and connect your bank for payouts. Most cleaners finish in about ten minutes.
How do requests work?
Go online and requests near you open full screen with the time, the length of the clean, the area and what you will earn. You have 45 seconds to accept, and the first cleaner to accept gets the job. Set your availability in the app to receive scheduled cleans too.
How much do I earn, and when am I paid?
£19 for every hour you clean, and every tip in full. As soon as a customer is charged for a clean, your earnings move to your Stripe balance, and Stripe pays them into your bank automatically, usually within a few working days. Every Monday you also get a statement by email of what you earned the week before.
What if the customer is not home?
Message them in the app. If nobody lets you in 15 minutes after the start time, open the job, tap Customer not answering and record a no-show while you are at the address. You are paid your share of the no-show fee.
What if a customer cancels late?
A customer who cancels late pays a fee, and you are paid your share of it along with your other earnings.
What if I finish early?
The customer pays for the time you were there, counted from the start code and rounded up to the next 15 minutes, with a one hour minimum. You are paid for the same time, so the two always match.
Account and emails
How do I change which emails I get?
Use the Email preferences link at the bottom of any CleanApp email, or go to Account in the app and tap Email preferences. You can switch off booking updates, weekly earnings statements and news and offers.
Receipts, sign-up codes, password resets and account and security emails are always sent, because they record a payment or protect your account.
I did not get my sign-up code
Codes come from hello@cleanapp.london and expire after one hour. Check your spam or junk folder, then tap Resend code in the app. If it still does not arrive, email support@cleanapp.london.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password and enter your email address. Open the email on the phone where you use CleanApp and tap the button to choose a new password.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Account and tap Delete account. Your profile, addresses and messages are removed. Records of payments are kept for as long as the law requires, with your personal details taken out.
